Professional Learning Communities

December 7th, 2017 to May 3rd, 2018

Join educators from across the state to discuss relevant topics vital for school success through the Professional Learning Community (PLC) model. Select from four topics and two locations to find the professional engagement opportunity that best aligns with your school’s priorities. The PLC models will be facilitated in a way that allows for opportunities for creating strategy, implementing strategy and reflecting on the impact of the strategy.


Recruitment and Retention of Quality Talent
With challenges such as teacher shortages and high turnover rates, members of this PLC will brainstorm strategies to attract teachers to the profession as well as to your building through clear and concise value propositions. Further, this PLC will dive deep into the topic of professionalism with the goal of creating strategies to empower and support educators, teachers, and leaders, as the professionals they are.

Who Should Attend?  This PLC is built for individuals with responsibilities in HR or school leadership, inclusive of dynamic and forward thinking teacher mentors or PLC leaders that can bring real world reflection and impact culture from the bottom up. Further, participants must have the ability to implement simple strategy created within the PLC that will lead the group to the discovery of impactful solutions.

Trauma and Stress in Students    
This PLC will address the challenges we all know exist in working in schools serving at-risk students, both urban and rural, but more specifically, exploring solutions in how to best work with students exposed to trauma and stress. 

Who Should Attend?  This PLC is built for classroom level instructional leaders to school social workers. Anyone with responsibilities and oversight of students will benefit from this PLC as we dive in to discover practical strategies for working in urban schools where trauma and stress are prevalent among the student body.

Creating Dynamic Classrooms of Learners at All Levels    
This PLC will focus on classroom leadership strategies that embrace data, leverage each student’s strengths, provide an opportunity for each student to be a mentor in their own way and create a classroom culture dynamic built on mutual respect and relationships.      

Who Should Attend? This PLC is the perfect fit for any educator looking to take their practice to the next level. Strategies will be classroom focused and lead to recommendations for school infrastructure changes as needed.

Utilizing Evaluation Data to Support your Teachers
Participants in this PLC will evaluate and discuss strategies to utilize educator evaluation data and information to be used as a mentoring tool for staff. This PLC will focus on how best to support teachers in your building to achieve their highest potential.

Who Should Attend? This PLC is designed for HR professionals and school leadership tasked with the responsibility to take their instructional staff to the next level. Participants must have the ability to implement strategies created in this PLC that will lead the group to the discovery of impactful solutions.
